Hearth & Home Design Center has been locally owned and operated by Herb and Mary Ann Herendeen since 1977. It was originally known as The Practical Answer, and sold woodburning stoves. The company incorporated as Hearth & Home Design Center in 1987, adding fireplace distribution in 1991.
Drew Herendeen joined the company in 1998 as Operations Manager overseeing the distribution of Majestic, Vermont Castings and Napoleon products to Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Kentucky. Hearth Products Distributing (HPD) was formed to service the dealer market.
In the fall of 2010, Hearth & Home Design Center, Inc. opened its second location in Portage, MI inside the Hannapel Home Center.
In 2013, Hearth & Home became a Heat-N-Glo and Heatilator Platinum Plus Dealer.Mike Baker joined Hearth & Home in 2016 working out of our Portage, MI store.
In 2017, We expanded our sales department with Dan Bergman joining the team with 20 years of fireplace experience.
